The Ultimate Game of Strategy
Chapter 6
Understanding and coping with knowledge Gaps

About this chapter

This chapter reads something like an arcane college text book. No appologies. Although it appears to be explaining about learning, in reality it is considering something far more relevant to the world of e-business: the inability to learn all there is that needs to be known.

Whatever niche is filled in the world of e-business there will be so much essential knowledge needed that it will be impossible to learn it all. Even if anyone tried, it would probably be out of date by the time they came to put it to use.

This is not a reason for despair or apathy, it just calls for a different attitude towards learning and acquiring knowledge. The people who will succeed are not going to be those who try to learn everything - but those who realise they (and others) have knowledge gaps and figure out a strategy to get around the problem.
