Scary words and arcane theories

This chapter might seem somewhat esoteric: at least, it will do if you have never come across genetic algorithms before. But, like most theoretical concepts, they are not complicated at all once you get into them. It's just that they are difficult to explain, so, it makes them sound complicated.

If you are at a complet loss with the explanation in this chapter, you might have a quick read through chapters 16 and 17, where the genetic algorithm is put to practical use; you'll see then how the whole thing is really just common sense.
